The Paris Institute of Psychosomatics (IPSO-Paris) or Psychosomatic School of Paris, was founded in 1972 by Pierre MARTY and Michel FAIN. The Poterne des Peupliers Hospital, now Pierre MARTY Hospital, was opened in 1978. It consisted of two units, one dedicated to adults, directed by Pierre MARTY and the other to infants, children and adolescents, directed by Léon KREISLER. This original structure, entirely devoted to the prevention and treatment of patients with somatic diseases, became the care department of the Mental Health Association of the 13th arrondissement in 2004 (ASM13).
The Association Institute of Psychosomatic Pierre MARTY was created in 2004. This non-profit association succeeds the Institute of Psychosomatic Paris (IPSO). It is closely linked to adult care units and children whose clinical activity is inseparable from teaching, theoretical reflection and scientific research. Its purpose is to transmit the acquisitions and the development of the discoveries initiated by the founders of the Psychosomatic School of Paris
